NEW PROJECT OF PSYCHOLOGICAL ATTENTION

For 2008 CODENI has initiated a new program of Psychological Attention and classes to Prevent Family Violence.  This project, funded by INDESOL (National Institute of Social Development), Corporativa de Fundaciones, Fundación Expo and Fundación Arancia, will benefit more than 100 children who participate in CODENI with psychological testing, counseling, and psychological therapies.  Parents will also benefit from psychological therapy and family violence classes.  CODENI continues to grow to offer integral attention to our beneficiaries and equip them with all the necessary tools to construct a brighter future for themselves and their families.

FUN ON SKATES!

The children and teens most committed to CODENI, school and family during the month of January earned the right to take an evening off to go to Disco Roller.  It was the first time roller skating for all 37 of the participating kids.  The evening was filled with laughs and fun, as the mairos (educators) are no professional skaters either.  Kids also enjoyed hamburgers, French fries and video games.  All who participated agreed that their hard work clearly paid off with this outing.  We thank DIF’s program De la Calle a la Vida for financing this event.

MORE HANDS AND HEARTS FOR GUADALAJARA’S STREET CHILDREN

CODENI team has been blessed by three new members for the start of this year:
Rosario Barragán, social worker, has joined us in a fulltime position detecting and addressing family needs.
Sindy Godoy, psychologist, is in charge of basic literacy, preschool classes, the homework club and bimonthly interviews with teachers to detect and address academic problems in CODENI’s population.
Ivette Mora, psychologist, has joined us to work with the families who have graduated from CODENI and overcome the need to depend on the streets for survival.  She is also in charge of organizing and implementing educational workshops each evening with CODENI’s active population.

¡Welcome, Rosario, Sindy and Ivette, to CODENI!
